CEO & PHOENIX DIRECTOR OF TRAINING
Michael Boyd is the Founder and CEO of Training With Purpose. Michael was born and raised in Lake Zurich, Illinois, a Northwest suburb of Chicago. He graduated from Lake Zurich High School in 2011 where he was a 2-time team Captain, 2 year starter, and selected to the All Area team during his senior season. After high school he played his collegiate freshman season at Division 3 powerhouse, North Central College. During his freshman season he started 4 games and was a key member for a team that went to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2012.
After sitting out the 2012-2013 season due to season ending nose injury/surgery he then transferred and played his sophomore season at Harper Community College where he averaged 8 ppg and 4 apg while shooting 45% from 3-point range during the 2013-2014 season.
In 2014, he transferred to Roosevelt University in Downtown Chicago to finish his collegiate playing career. Shortly after transferring he developed a bone disease in his right ankle called Avascular Necrosis. Doctors told him that he may never walk or play basketball again. He spent the next two years on crutches, unable to walk without support. By the grace of God in late 2016, he was cleared to start physical therapy and slowly regained his ability to walk again. Although he never returned to the court as a player, God has blessed him with the ability to return to the court as a trainer. Mike is now living in Scottsdale, Arizona where he is blessed to be able to help mold the next generation of young hoopers while also using his story to help them understand the importance of gratitude because nothing is guaranteed in life.
Training With Purpose is a program with a mission to help young athletes find purpose and calling through the game of basketball.
"WITH PURPOSE COMES PROGRESS."
